Mateusz on his way to fulfilling his dreams: Alps 2025

10.9.2025

Fifteen-year-old Mateusz from Racibórz, Poland, is no ordinary teenager. His life journey has been influenced by autism, but also by an incredible passion for the mountains, which helps him in his rehabilitation and personal growth. Together with Tendon ropes, he embarked on another great expedition this year – this time to the Alps.

Gran Paradiso: the first big test

The weather determined the direction of the first expedition: the Graian Alps and the ascent of Gran Paradiso. Mateusz conquered the mountain in alpine style – without spending the night, in one demanding ascent with an elevation gain of 1,900 meters. Part of the route was on snow and ice, which requires not only technical skills but also exceptional physical condition and determination.

Aosta Valley and Dent d'Hérens

After a demanding day, the expedition moved to the other side of the Aosta Valley, to Bionaz and the Lac di Place Moulin dam. Here began the long journey to the summit of Dent d'Hérens. Fatigue was setting in, and it was necessary to find a place to camp below the Aosta hut. The next day was devoted to climbing the glacier and crossing to the western ridge, which was closed due to a landslide. Obstacles are part of mountaineering, and Mateusz is learning to accept them with humility.

Rest at Molveno and Croz dell'Altissimo

After moments of exhaustion, a well-deserved rest came at Lake Molveno, which offered space for regeneration. The energy gained soon turned into another goal – climbing Croz dell'Altissimo (2339 m), a mountain known for its monumental 900-meter southwestern wall.

Via delle Bocchette – the beauty of ferratas in Brenta

The expedition continued along the famous Via delle Bocchette in Gruppo di Brenta. This network of ferratas is one of the most beautiful and interesting in Europe. Narrow paths, airy footbridges, and breathtaking views – a real reward for all the effort.

Finale under Tre Cime di Lavaredo

At the end of the expedition, Mateusz and his team got on their bikes, climbed to an altitude of 2,321 meters under Tre Cime di Lavaredo, and then set off on foot to explore this iconic place in the Dolomites. They were exhausted, but even more satisfied.
